Band of Outsiders, the latest exhibition at SAW Gallery in Ottawa, opened last Thursday February 26th. ” A refreshing look at the influences of outsider art on contemporary art practices, the smash exhibition Band of Outsiders brings together 13 emerging and established artists from the Ottawa and Gatineau regions, some of whom will be exhibiting their works for the first time!”
spins & needles was invited to participate in the Outsider Art Fair on opening night and it was a blast spreading the word about making stuff + mixing beats! Below are some pics of the exhibition. I wasn’t able to get a shot, but I loved Angie the Barbarian’s chandelier made from bike rims and other miscellaneous parts.
The exhibit runs until April 4th.
And here’s a bit of literal “outside art”: a Swap Box that can be sporadically found stapled to a telephone poll in my neighbourhood.
