Tomorrow I’ll be helping out with a tie-dye session at the CIC (Catholic Immigration Centre) here in Ottawa. We’ll be making tie-dye team shirts for their Community Soccer Cup tournament. I haven’t tie-dyed in a while, so I’m really looking forward to it! It’ll be another great technique to re-learn and do crazy things with some of my plain-looking garments. I’ll post the results of the tie-dying session later this week.

Could tie-dye be possibly back? (Above: The Satoralist recently posted a beautiful tie-dyed caftan dress seen on the street in Miami.) Searching the web for some creative inspiration, there were some amazing how-tos and garments out there.
Some video tutorials on tie-dying can be found on Youtube and Elle Girl Magazine:
Threadbanger has a tutorial on how to tie-dye using spray paint:
Plus Instructables and Seventeen magazine have easy step-by-step photo instruction essay on how to tie-dye.
American Apparel’s usually plain garments have been exchanged for some tie-dyed pieces, including this awesome pencil skirt:
Also using an American Apparel scarf for inspiration, Punkystyle crafted up her own great-looking scarf.
And Good Bones Great Pieces recently posted on tie dye as a current trend:

This sounds like a wicked workshop! We are soooo into tie-dye right now. Complex Geometries & La Fete did some great versions too!
The workshop was super fun! It was easier than I thought, and actually pretty hard to mess up
I’ll be sure to check out CG and LF’s tie-dyed garments next time I’m in the store!
