We can hardly believe it ourselves. Last month (February 17th to be exact) Spins & Needles turned five. We are so so excited to celebrate with you all – we couldn’t have done it without you!
To mark this special occasion, we’re throwing a razzle dazzle, camouflaged-in-the-dark birthday bash on April 8th at the Canadian War Museum. And you’re all invited!
Think deception and distortion, dazzle camouflage, battlefields and beats, catwalks and cameras, and things that glow in the dark, all mixed into one big anniversary event.
The party takes place in the Museum’s armoured vehicle storage gallery, where you’ll get to weave in and out of the tanks and other big toys while listening to some awesome beats filtering throughout the space by DJs Jason Pelletier and special out-of-town guest from Montreal, Clifford Brown (Mirrorballs/Microzoo).
Conquer camouflage-themed interactive DIY art/craft/design/fashion projects including whip up your own:
> Super cool black and white dazzle camouflage t-shirt all your friends will envy
> Decorate parachuting paratroopers to launch from you window sill
> LED glow in the dark nightlights that will light your way through darkened Museum spaces
> Shiny and new customized military-inspired medals to wear with your newest spring outfit.
Head out to another space to check out one of the Museum’s most popular special exhibitions: Camouflage: From Battlefield to Catwalk. The exhibition explores the patterns and products that hide armies, inspire artists and dominate fashion. Also check out the free pre-event lecture on artists’ contributions to dazzle ship camouflage.
Throughout the night, stop by the makeshift “photobooth” and strike your most deceptive pose – all party photos will be posted on Flickr. Plus consume some dangerously sweet camouflage birthday treats.
