It's hard to believe, but spins & needles is celebrating its 5-year anniversary in 2010. Thank you to all our supporters, collaborators and friends throughout these past few years.
Starting with Winterlude 2010 last February, S&N presents a year of innovative programming. In April 2010, we'll be hosting spins & needles birthday bash at the Canadian War Museum!
In conjunction with the popular exhibition Camouflage: From Battlefield to Catwalk now on view at the Museum, spins & needles presents a night that mixes dazzle and disguise, battlefields and beats, catwalks and craft.
Taking place amid the dramatic backdrop of LeBreton Gallery, housing the Museum's open collection of armored vehicles and other big toys, you'll get to work on interactive DIY art/craft/design/fashion projects, dance to music by DJs Jason Pelletier and Clifford Brown (Montreal), pose for pictures in a makeshift "photobooth", and enjoy some camouflage birthday treats. As a party guest, you'll have late-night access to the Camouflage exhibition after the Museum closes. A slideshow mixing camouflage images with images from spins & needles past events will be shown.
Before the event, you're also invited to a lecture by a noted expert on dazzle camouflage and how artists have influenced the concealment of ships during wartime.
When: Thursday April 8th, 2010, 8 p.m. - 12 midnight Where: Canadian War Museum (1 Vimy Place, Ottawa) >Map and Directions Cover: $10 (Students: $8). Tickets for purchase at the ticket counter. Includes all project materials and instructions. Cash bar @ the event. 19+
